FAQs
All hot tubs have operational costs, but there are smart features that can help minimise these expenses. A dedicated circulation pump, for instance, uses less power than a main jet pump at low speed.
Additionally, an insulated top cover, cabinet, floor, and acrylic shell can all contribute to lower costs. Explore our Eco Range hot tubs and spas for the most efficient options.
Running a 5-6 seater family spa in the UK costs around £3 - £4 per day. Smaller spas or 13A eco-friendly models typically cost closer to £2.50 - £3 per day. For a more budget-friendly option, Plug & Play hot tubs often have lower running costs.
Hot tubs offer various health benefits, including stress relief, muscle relaxation, improved circulation, pain relief for conditions like arthritis, and better sleep quality. For more information visit our Wellness hub.
We recommend keeping your hot tub running at all times unless you plan to be away for an extended period. Hot tubs are great for both summer and winter, so there's usually no need to turn them off.
Maintaining a steady temperature is more efficient than repeatedly cooling and reheating the water. However, we offer a winter shut down service package whereby our certified engineers will empty the water, drain the pipes, and clean the spa to prevent freezing in the internal piping.
You should change the water in your hot tub every 3 to 4 months. This helps maintain water quality and hygiene, ensuring a clean and safe soaking experience.
Chemicals are essential in a hot tub to maintain water quality and safety. They help to sanitise the water by killing bacteria and other harmful microorganisms, balance pH levels to prevent skin irritation and equipment damage, and control algae growth. Proper chemical maintenance ensures a clean, safe, and enjoyable hot tub experience.
If you don’t have good access to the back of your property you’ll need to contact a local crane hire company to lift your new hot tub over your house, garage, fence, or wall.
For lifts over a house, a full-size crane is typically required, costing between £400-700, depending on factors such as location and how busy the street is.
For lifting over a small wall, fence, hedge, or smaller obstacles, a HIAB (a small flatbed truck with a crane arm) is often the best solution. This option is usually more affordable, averaging £150-300.
The running costs of an ice bath depend on various factors, including the method used to chill the water and the frequency of use. Here are some typical costs:
Ice: If you use bags of ice, it can cost around £1-3 per bag, with several bags needed per session.
Electric Chillers: If you use an electric chiller (either external or built in), the cost includes the initial purchase and ongoing electricity costs, which vary based on usage and local rates. Our ice baths are eco friendly and cost about 50p - £1 a day to run.
Water Costs: Regular water changes add to the cost, which can vary depending on your local water rates. Ice baths with built-in pumps will require less frequent water changes.
Cold water therapy offers many health benefits. It can reduce muscle soreness and inflammation, enhance recovery after intense physical activity, and boost circulation. Additionally, cold water therapy can improve mental health by reducing stress and anxiety, invigorating the body, and potentially improving sleep quality. Regular cold immersion may also strengthen the immune system and increase overall resilience. Read more on our blog post here.
How often you change the water in your ice bath/plunge pool depends on a number of factors including if you're using a pump, water treatment, is it covered and out of direct sunlight.
If the answer is yes to all of the above then generally you can keep the water in your ice bath for up to four weeks before needing to change it, beyond this period, the water will become dirty and unhygienic. If the water appears visibly dirty, change it sooner.
If using an ice bath with a built-in circulation pump such as the H20 SPA Chillax, you can leave the water for 3 months without changing it as the circulation alongside a sanitiser keeps the water clean and reusable for this period of time.
